The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is a good place to enroll for students seeking an advanced degree, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Its 2023 Best Graduate School rankings released Tuesday recognized UL Lafayette in each major category that the publication considered and for which the University offers a degree program.

U.S. News & World Report researched and ranked graduate programs in six major categories – business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing – and specialty areas.

UL Lafayette’s B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration, the College of Education, the College of Engineering and the College of Nursing & Health Sciences were each singled out. No graduate or undergraduate programs in law or medicine are offered at the University.

“Recognition in each of the major categories for which the University awards graduate degrees is indicative of the quality of our graduate offerings, the strength of our graduate faculty and, as a result, our success in attracting graduate students ready to lead in their respective disciplines and professions,” said Dr. Mary Farmer-Kaiser, dean of the Graduate School.

U.S. News & World Report researches and ranks graduate programs across the country. It considered more than 2,150 programs to compile the 2023 list; rankings are based on information that was gathered during the Fall 2021 semester and earlier this year.

Overall, the College of Engineering was No. 152 and the College of Education was No. 178. The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration was also recognized, although the publication assigned no numerical ranking. U.S. News & World Report often cites noteworthy academic colleges, departments or programs without assigning a number.

Programs offered by the colleges of Business Administration, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Nursing & Health Sciences, and Ray P. Authement College of Sciences were also singled out.

The College of Business Administration’s MBA program was No. 212 in the “part-time MBA” category. The curriculum, however, is the same whether students are enrolled part-time, full-time, on campus or online.

The College of Engineering’s engineering technology program was No. 98. Its computer engineering program was No. 121.

The College of Liberal Arts’ speech language pathology program was ranked No. 82 and its English program was No.143.

The College of Nursing & Health Sciences’ doctor of nursing practice program was No. 103.

The College of Sciences’ computer science (No. 146), mathematics (No. 168), and biology (No. 224) graduate programs were all recognized.U.S. News considers factors such as faculty credentials and training, research, student engagement, student service, technology and peer reputation, employment rates of graduates and university-reported data. Its rankings are designed to help prospective college students make decisions about where to enroll and what programs they want to pursue.
