In addition to Daryl Joseph Moore, who became dean of the College of the Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette earlier this year, the college has announced several key leadership changes.

Professor Kari Smith is its new interim associate dean. She moves into the role after serving as director of the college’s School of Architecture and Design. William Riehm has been named the school’s interim director. He previously served as coordinator for its interior design program, and is an associate professor. Michael Eble is the college’s assistant dean for communications, exhibitions and events. He was previously the college’s curator of exhibitions, engagement and events.

ѴǴǰ’s deanship began in February. Prior to joining UL Lafayette, he most recently served as dean of the College of the Arts and Communication at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey.

The ’ newly announced leaders, Moore said, are poised to help it continue to grow and evolve – and will help guide a range of initiatives and strategies. Long-term and short-term goals include the creation of new academic programs, faculty development, and fostering additional industry partnerships across the community, state and nation, and internationally.

A key area of focus will be ensuring that current and future programs are structured to emphasize traditional and emerging technologies, as well as current aesthetic, socioeconomic and sustainability considerations.

The overarching objective, Moore added, remains consistent with the college’s longstanding focus – to position students for academic success and fulfilling careers.

“Our exceptionally strong faculty and staff have proven themselves leaders virtually across the board, and are the reason for the college’s longstanding success. They’re also the reason I’m so confident about our capacity for advancing in many ways and across many disciplines,” he said.
