Michelle Foreman is a fourth-generation UL Lafayette student. While tradition was a factor in making her decision, it wasn’t the only factor.
“When I toured the campus, I really loved the Louisiana family culture, and everyone is so friendly,” she said. “The campus was another reason that I wanted to come here. It's absolutely beautiful, and the professors that I met on my tour were so accommodating and polite.
“There are so many cool places to study around campus – not just the library but many different outdoor areas that are gorgeous, and it's crazy to say that I studied next to some alligators,” she said about Cypress Lake, which sits in the middle of campus.
Choosing UL Lafayette was easy for Michelle, and so was choosing to major in marketing.
“I chose marketing because I heard a business leader speak about how the company’s marketing assistant had completely changed their business and helped it grow from the ground up,” she said. “That was really intriguing to me and I wanted to find out more.”
Michelle took advantage of many of the opportunities available to marketing majors.
“I really enjoyed the different programs and opportunities that were provided, like the resume café every semester, the internship fair, which helped me find my current internship position, the banquet every spring, and many more,” she said.
Michelle has also taken advantage of the opportunities in student organizations.
“I am involved in the , and got to do a little social media for them my sophomore year. That helped me get my foot into doing social media for other organizations,” she said.
While she has found ways to work on her professional advancement in many ways, Michelle has also been able to dedicate time to her personal interests.
“I also am heavily involved in , the women's music fraternity on campus,” she said. “I have always been involved in music my whole life and this helped me to get to know the music atmosphere in Lafayette.”
