Prepared to Meet This Moment
Dear students, faculty and staff members,
As you know, the University has made the decision to begin remote course delivery on Wednesday, March 18.
We are able to move to alternative delivery methods because we have in place a comprehensive plan and the technological infrastructure to ensure continuity of instruction. By offering courses through Moodle and other means, we鈥檙e attempting to minimize large gatherings and reduce the time students and faculty spend in close proximity to each other.
These actions follow recommendations of the Louisiana Office of Public Health and other health organizations on how to limit the potential spread of COVID-19.
Changing to remote course delivery does not affect University operations. Campus remains open and all business functions and services will continue. All employees should report to work as usual.
In a rapidly changing situation such as this, accurate information is vital. In the coming days, you will receive announcements and updates from the University and individual campus units, so please monitor University email, official social media accounts and this page dedicated to COVID-19 updates for the latest.
To our students, I know it may be difficult to transition to a new method of course instruction in the middle of a semester. To our faculty, I understand that recreating courses or learning new technologies to teach your classes may be tough as well.
I want to thank you for your willingness to meet the challenges this health emergency has posed. We鈥檙e working to provide you all with the support you need to ease this transition.
I want also to thank staff members from across campus who have demonstrated without fail a consistent dedication to our students and their safety.
We often talk about this University as a family. This moment serves as a powerful reminder of that indelible connection. Though the decisions we鈥檝e made will distance many of us from each other, this moment will surely bring our University family even closer together.
